Psychological Therapy

Psychological therapy is a well-researched process that is aimed at addressing psychological concerns and mental health issues, and thus improving a person’s wellbeing and functioning. Therapy involves communicating with a mental health professional (such as a psychologist) and learning about one’s specific patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Strategies are then discussed to change or amend these patterns to achieve more helpful thinking and behavior, with the goal of symptom reduction, improved relationships and wellbeing.

Assessment

A psychoeducational assessment provides an objective measure of a student’s learning profile. There are multiple reasons for a student to undergo such testing. The most common request for an assessment is to consider unexplained or unresponsive academic difficulties. Psychoeducational testing can identify learning disorders (such as Dyslexia), intellectual disabilities, and provide a conceptualization of a student’s academic strengths and weaknesses. In most cases we are aiming to answer the question: “How does this student learn best”?

Telehealth

As of November 2017 Telehealth Psychological Services will be rebated under Medicare. This means clients with mental health concerns will be able to access psychological therapy via online mediums from qualified professionals in the major cities under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

Employee Assistance Program

Neaves & Menne Clinical Psychology provide a range of EAP options, which can be tailored to suit your company needs. We offer individual support sessions, group format information sessions for workplaces, and outreach services, as well as consultations via phone or videoconferencing. Please contact us for more information.

Supervision

A number of our clinicians at Neaves & Menne Clinical Psychology are board approved supervisors (AHPRA). This service will be of interest to registered Psychologists wanting to gain endorsement via the Clinical Psychology Registrar Program, or those who are simply seeking peer supervision, as part of their Continuing Professional Development requirements. Please contact us for further information.

Workshop and Consulting

Our psychologists are experienced and well equipped to provide workshops and consulting services on a range of topics and for different settings, such as for health and other professionals; schools and colleges; organisations; private entities and public forums. Please contact us for more details.

Psychology for Everyday Life

Psychotherapy is not only for those with a clinical disorder or other more serious disturbance. While an effective treatment for mental health concerns, psychotherapy is also useful when applied to our everyday problems and curiosities. At Neaves & Menne Clinical Psychology we believe the only qualification you need to enter therapy is to be entirely normal.
